| The future of the earth and humanity is in our hands. We must all act to limit climate change. |
A little bit of history…
Ecoville was created at the end of the 16th century by a handful of farmer families.
Ever since, this little village has grown: ideally placed on the banks of a river, and under the protection of a neighbourhing castle.
Today, it is located 20 kilometers from a large city, and its population is increasing very fast.
Ecoville’s historical centre is on the UNESCO World Heritage list for its exceptional architecture. Other areas of the city, built at the beginning of the 20th century and around 1950, deserve important, but costly, renovations. There are still many constructible sites within Ecoville.
Today, the city counts 3 500 inhabitants, and is currently experiencing a strong growth in population due to the development of an employment basin in the surrounding area. Ecoville’s mayor is faced with the following challenge : to increase the city population from 3 500 to 30 000 inhabitants over the next 10 years, and yet respect the environment.
Can you help take up this challenge?
… and some information concerning climate and geography
Ecoville has good insolation all though the year.
Its climate is temperate and not very windy (except in higher areas), and very pleasant to live in.
Pluviometry is average. In the driest years, the river sometimes dries up.
The vegetation in the region is varied, with a mix of softwood and hardwood essences. The closest forest to Ecoville is mainly composed of pines, whose wood has low heating power. |
